Q: Are your bartenders licensed or certified?
We are often asked about the licensing and certification of our bartenders. To clear up any confusion, please see the information below:
In Michigan, there is no specific license for bartending businesses or mobile bartending services for private events. Additionally, there is no requirement for bartenders to complete an alcohol serving training program for wedding receptions and other private events.
However, Michigan law mandates that anyone serving alcohol for a licensed business—such as a bar, restaurant, or hotel—must successfully complete an alcohol serving training program.
While not required by law, many wedding venues will require a hired bartender to have completed an alcohol serving training program. These programs are commonly known as TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) or TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures).
Our BEST bartenders are TIPS and/or TAM certified and will be happy to provide copies of their certifications upon request.

Q: Does my event need insurance, and do you provide it?
If your event is serving alcohol, then we are required to insure the event.
Best Bartending purchases one day special event insurance through Eventhelper.co. The policy is a $1,000,000.00/$2,000,000.00 General/Liquor liability policy that covers you, the venue, and Best Bartending. We handle the paperwork and provide proof of insurance certificates to you and the venue as well.
We never inflate the cost of insurance and in most packages, it is automatically included. You are always welcome to secure your own insurance through other means, but we would require Best Bartending LLC listed as a covered party.
